Answers to common questions below. If you don't find what you're looking for, reach out directly — we read every message.
What is a Wave?
A Wave is a focus session — spontaneous, interest-driven, volume-based. You tap once to start and the timer counts up. There is no goal selection upfront, no target duration, no pressure. When you stop, you classify what you worked on. Waves reward showing up, not planning perfectly.
What is an Anchor?
An Anchor is a scheduled, non-negotiable commitment — a meeting, an appointment, something that has a fixed time in the real world. Thriven surfaces an extraction overlay when an Anchor is due so it is never buried under a wave of focus.
Why doesn't Thriven have streaks?
Streaks punish inconsistency. ADHD doesn't work in tidy daily chains — energy, interest, and capacity vary enormously day to day. Thriven tracks accumulated volume (total time) instead. One great session after a quiet week counts the same as any other.
What is Brain Parking?
Brain Parking is a thought-capture tool that appears when you stop a Wave or dismiss an Anchor. It lets you quickly log whatever crossed your mind during the session — ideas, to-dos, random thoughts — so they don't disappear. They appear in the Library for review later.
Can I use Thriven offline?
Yes. All your data is stored locally on your device using ObjectBox. Thriven works fully offline. Cloud sync (Firebase Firestore) is an optional backup — your data is never dependent on a network connection.
How do I back up my data?
Sign in with Google in Settings → Account. Once signed in, your data automatically syncs to the cloud. If you reinstall the app or switch devices, signing back in with the same Google account restores your data.
How do I delete my account and data?
Email us at [email protected] with the subject "Delete my account". We will delete your Firestore data and Firebase account within 30 days. Local data on your device is removed when you uninstall the app.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through Google Play. Open the Google Play Store app → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Thriven → Cancel. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your data stays on your device and in the cloud. You revert to the free tier limits, but no data is deleted. If you had more than the free-tier number of goals or anchors, existing ones are retained — you just won't be able to create new ones beyond the free limit until you re-subscribe.
Do you offer refunds?
Refunds for Google Play purchases are handled by Google Play. Visit play.google.com/store/account and navigate to Order History to request a refund through Google's standard process.
The app crashed or something isn't working.
We're sorry about that. Please email us with a description of what happened — what screen you were on, what you tapped, and what the app did. Crash reports are sent to us automatically via Firebase Crashlytics, but context from you helps us fix things faster. The more detail, the better.
My data didn't restore after reinstalling.
Make sure you sign in with the same Google account you used before. The restore happens automatically once Google Sign-In is complete. If your data still doesn't appear, email us and we'll investigate.
Notifications aren't working.
Check that notification permissions are granted in your Android Settings → Apps → Thriven → Notifications. Also ensure "exact alarms" permission is granted — Thriven needs this to surface Anchor reminders at the precise scheduled time. This is found in Settings → Apps → Thriven → Alarms & reminders on Android 12 and above.
